The reason for this is very simple.
In this day and age it seems every designer/manufacturer uses different measurements.
Most labels also "down size" eg what used to be a Large now seems to carry a Medium or even a Small tag. (Vanity perhaps)

We use an old method that seems to be obsolete these days. A TAPE MEASURE. Novel concept.
REMEMBER A TAPE MEASURE WHETHER IN INCHES OR CENTIMETERS, DOES NOT LIE!!
