Young adults have the same mentality, generation after generation. Whether you realize it or not, some stuff is old and original. Avoid these bad Halloween costume choices with these simple tips.

Tip #1 - Avoid using old uniforms as a Halloween Costume
If you're a security guard, don't go as a "guard" or use your badge to be an officer. By the time you're a young adult this is played out and unoriginal, so avoid it.

Another Halloween costume people tend to fall into, specifically girls, is being a naughty school girl. If you want that to be your costume then fine, but please do not use your old uniform that you used to wear every day to school and call it your costume.

If you're insistent on using one of your uniforms as a Halloween costume, at the least thrown on some blood and scars and be a dead security guard or naughty zombie school girl.

Tip #2 - Don't be Drunk for Halloween
No, I'm not saying don't get drunk, you're a young adult, it's your duty. I'm saying don't be a drunk as a Halloween costume. As in if someone asks you what you are and you respond, "I'm drunk." Since your still a young adult, this may seem new and fresh to you, but it's not. The Earth was drunk when she was born.

Tip #3 - Avoid the Clichéd Devil and Angel
This can be pulled off still, but more people have done it than Pamela Anderson. It's as older than that joke. Matching and coordinating with your BFF is cute and all, but originality will get you further. If you're going to a big party, expect to see a few demons and angels hanging about the dance floor.

You're a young adult, be original with your ideas if you already bought the outfits. You can try out this thought - devil is a fallen angel, so give your demon buddy her wings back. And the angel on the other hand can be the pre-fallen angel, so hand her the horns and staff. Some people may say it's weird, but they'll be drunk and loving it soon enough.

Tip #4 - Being an Athlete is Not a Halloween Costume
Don't throw on a jersey. That's all there is too it. It's your backup plan I know, but don't do it. Being a White Michael Jordan or a Black Wayne Gretzky (you get the picture) is old news. If anything, change it up and go topless with sparring gloves as Muhammad Ali. That's old too but it's not a Halloween buzzkill like throwing on a jersey and calling it a costume is.
